When you hear “chicory”, you think salad or even chicory, but did you know that chicory is also a root?
We transform our chicory variety, with the latin name, Cichorium intybus sativum, into our products. The plant roots are the main ingredient, and sometimes the only ingredient, in Chicorée Leroux Grains, Instant and Liquid products, creating authentic plant-based ranges. Would you like to know more? Chicory roots come with many benefits. Chicory is somewhat unique and one of the few locally-grown plants used for hot drinks.
HEALTHY
HIGH IN FIBRE
Chicory roots have extremely high fibre levels by food standards, with plenty of inulin, which is known for its prebiotic effects and stimulates your gut microbiome.
GLUTEN-FREE
Chicory is naturally gluten-free. People on a gluten-free or low-gluten diet can therefore opt for chicory.
PLANT BASED
CHICORY IS NATURALLY LOW IN ENERGY AND SUGAR, AND WE DON’T ADD ANY SUGAR OURSELVES
Chicory is 100% plant based. While it does contain sugar naturally, only in very small amounts. We don’t add any extra sugar during the transformation process, which means that Leroux chicory is a real low-energy option. A natural product: 100% plant based, with no added sugar and no additives.
BUZZ-FREE
NATURALLY CAFFEINE-FREE
Chicory is caffeine-free, not to mention theine-free and buzz-free, providing an alternative to many other types of hot drink. All this means that you can drink chicory at any time of the day no matter what your age and even when pregnant.
