Chicorée Leroux will immediately remind you of the Nord department in north France. And not only are our plants located in Orchies (Nord) and Vieille-Eglise (Pas-de-Calais), but our chicory plantations can be found in Hauts-de-France. Which makes our chicory the only hot drink grown and transformed in our beautiful region of Hauts-de-France. Why? The silty soil of the region is rich and fertile, and the weather conditions are ideal for the growth of Leroux chicory. Chicory is sown in the spring and harvested 6 months later when the roots reach maturity. At this point, the roots are swollen with inulin, a food-grade fibre with many benefits.  Chicories are the only plant, if we ignore artichokes, to contain enough inulin to be worth extracting on a commercial basis. 180,000 tonnes of inulin are extracted from chicory roots annually in Europe. A total of around 200 growers in the region have opted for this amazing root. And it is likely to go on!
