Our partners, experts, and growers all contribute their expertise (in their respective fields) throughout the production line, however they also make sure that they protect the environment and local assets.
FERTIGATION
In 1998, Chicorée Leroux was the first European food firm to invest in a natural treatment system for its process waters based on fertigation or a plant-based biofilter, on a willow plantation.
Fairly large quantities of water are required to produce instant chicory, which is why it is essential for us to be able to reprocess it. We harness the micro-organisms in the soil and the nutritional needs of trees combined to purify our process water.
A LOCAL FRENCH PRODUCTION SYSTEM
All of our source plantations are located less than 200 km from our site and 80% are located less than 50 km away.
Our chicory plants are indeed grown in France, and locally, in the region of Hauts-de-France (Nord). This approach confirms the firm’s values, aiming to protect the environment and promote the local area. Both requirements and transparency are priorities for Chicorée Leroux, and we exclude any type of fungicide or insecticide when growing our chicory crops.
Our partner growers sign an annual contract. We make sure that specifications are met by assigning teams to the plantations. Selective waste sorting and effective energy and water management are also priorities for Chicorée Leroux, aiming to improve our environmental impact.
The roots are also cleaned with rainwater via a closed loop system. Our root cleaning water is therefore recycled. 100% plant based, 100% clean and no limits apply!
OUR CSR POLICY
Chicorée Leroux is aware of the potential environmental impact of each and every business and decided to launch a hard-hitting CSR policy.
