As well as being good for your health, Chicorée Leroux is also good for the planet.
Throughout the production chain, our partners, experts and growers each contribute their know-how (in their respective fields), but above all, they respect our environment and local heritage.
Ferti-irrigation
In 1998, Chicorée Leroux became the first European agri-food company to invest in a system for the natural treatment of its process water by ferti-irrigation or plant biofilter, on a willow plantation.
The production of soluble chicory requires quite a lot of water, so it’s important for us to be able to recycle it. The combination of soil micro-organisms and tree nutrient requirements purifies our process water.
French supply chain local manufacturing
All sown areas are located within 200 km of our site, and 80% within 50 km.
In fact, this plant is grown locally in France, in the Hauts-de-France region (Nord). This is in line with the company’s values of total respect for the environment and local terroir. High standards and transparency are among our priorities: we use neither fungicides nor insecticides to grow chicory.
All the farmers we work with have an annual contract. We ensure that their specifications are met by assigning field staff. The practice of selective sorting, as well as good management of energy and water, is also a challenge for the company with the aim of improving its environmental impact.
We should also add that the root cleaning process is carried out using rainwater in a closed circuit. Water is therefore re-used. 100% plant-based, 100% clean and without moderation!
