4 Tips for cutting down on caffeine!

How many cups for healthy drinking?

A “healthy” caffeine intake is equivalent to about two cups of coffee a day. A coffee afficionado will surely be astonished, but two cups have enough caffeine energy to act all day long. Remember to space these two cups of coffee out over the course of the day to spread out the caffeine’s effect. On the other hand, avoid consuming caffeine after 4 p.m., as this may prevent you from falling asleep (caffeine can remain in the body for several hours after ingestion).

If you thought filter coffee was better than espresso, think again… Because filter coffee takes longer to brew, the water is more loaded with caffeine molecules. So it’s best to opt for café au lait, espresso or even cappuccino.

Let yourself be tempted by other hot drinks!

If you thought coffee was irreplaceable, we’ve got some great alternatives!

Green tea, for example, can be an option when we need a little boost: the theine it contains, compared to caffeine, provides a stimulating and relaxing effect. We’ll let you in on a little (not-so-secret) secret… green tea is one of the world’s most powerful medicinal plants, particularly through its anti-oxidant effects, which limit cell ageing.

For coffee lovers looking for that little roasted taste, why not try decaf, which offers a similar flavour. Or try chicory, rich in fibre and naturally low in sugar. Combined with milk or water, your drink is guaranteed caffeine-free and a perfect substitute for coffee.

Get back into a good sleep cycle

Be careful, coffee is not necessarily the right answer to the first signs of fatigue: you need to understand their origins and know how to listen to your body. Respect your sleep cycles, which are essential. As soon as you feel the first signs of fatigue (yawning, difficulty concentrating, etc.), don’t wait and go to bed!

Take advantage of the weekend to treat yourself! Just after eating, resting for 20 minutes allows you to recover the equivalent of 2 hours of sleep!

Don’t let coffee dehydrate you!

And yes, coffee is a dehydrating and diuretic drink! Keep a bottle of fresh water with you at all times (it’s your daily ally), so you can stay hydrated and drink regularly.

Our advice:

Try to reduce your caffeine intake, and opt for it when you need a boost!
